CALVIN KLEIN
Calvin Klein
February 4, 1994    Calvin Klein and David Geffen for 8:00 A.M. GQ shoot. David arrives early. We sit in the kitchen talk about music. Fresh fruit and coffee. He's very impressive, frighteningly knowledgeable about practically everything. Calvin arrives by 9:00. Grooming begins promptly. This duo is the last part of the GQ "Buddies" series with Reed/Gillette, Malkovich/Sands, Hawke/Sherman, Schrader/Shanley, and Halberstam/Dunn. Notes: Get pills for trip to Thailand tomorrow.

August 28, 1995    Calvin Klein at 11:00 for New York Magazine cover shoot and inside spread. Calvin arrives surprisingly on time considering what he must have on his mind these days... the new store opening on Madison, the cancellation of Steven's underwear ads and the threat of picketing by the right wing moralists. Superb hair by Howard Fugler, Roger Thompson Salon at Barneys and great grooming by Genevieve from Oz. Shoot in several formats, 120, 8x10 and 11x14. Color and b/w. Black seems to work best. He's very handsome and seems quite tranquil under the lights. After lunch we drive uptown in together to shoot some 35mm of him at the office and at the new store. There is a slightly cultish mood to CK Inc. Everyone is polite, good-looking and dressed in black.

Notes: Rush film to US Color tonight. Pack for trip to New Mexico tomorrow for Bill Katz's house, Harper's Bazaar.
