July 15, 1979    Shoot Christian Haub for promised February birthday portrait.

Feb. 23, 1981    Birthday lunch with Christian Haub. Back to studio for portrait. We talk about trying to do this every year as a series.

Feb. 22, 1982    Christian Haub birthday portrait. His hair is getting longer.

Feb. 20, 1983    Late shooting for Christian Haub's birthday portrait. Chris is very excited, he just won the Prix de Rome in painting. I guess this will affect the continuity of the series.

Feb. 22, 1987    Back on schedule with Christian Haub series. At lunch we talk about the Prix de Rome year and the people there, Anna Mendieta, Alex Katz and William Gaddis. He stayed longer than planned. Things are looking good in New York. David Shapiro just introduced him to Annie Plumb. Perhaps a show in the fall.

August 5, 1991    Christian Haub for late birthday portrait. Brings me a new piece which he calls "a float" consisting of mulitcolored plastics. He has stopped using paint and now works with plastic. These are the pieces that Peter Halley and I liked so much at Chris's show.

Feb. 18, 1993    Christian Haub birthday portrait. Chris is curating exhibitions at TennisportArt with Cordy Ryman, Merrill Wagner, Dorothea Rockburne, David Reed, Helen Marden, James Hyde, Nancy Haynes, and Alain Kirili etc. We talk about my shoot with Arthur Ashe. Chris has a beard and mustache.

Dec. 17, 1994    Late birthday portrait of Christian Haub, in jacket and tie.

Feb. 22, 1995    Birthday portrait Christian Haub. Then lunch at Jerry's. Talked to Chuck Close at one table and to John Baldessari at another.

Feb. 22, 1996    Christian Haub comes over for the annual portrait series with a copy of Jeremy Gilbert-Rolfe's book Beyond Piety which devotes a chapter to his work.

Jan 16, 1997    Christian Haub stops in for early birthday portrait on his way to his opening Littlejohn Contemporary Art, 41 East 57th Street. The new work is plastic paint on wood. The exhibition is up until Feb. 22, Chris's birthday.
