DENNIS HOPPER
DEC. 13, 1986    Met Dennis Hopper at his opening of photographs at Tony Shafrazi Gallery on Mercer Street. We talk about Geldzahler, Warhol, Hopper is interested in my portrait project for Rei Kawakubo and Comme des Garcons, and has seen the Rauschenberg, Pincus-Witten, Castelli and Salle portraits. Asks to keep him in mind for a later date.

FEB. 22, 1995    Dennis Hopper stops by the studio on his way to promote the film Easy Rider. I find it extraordinary that Easy Rider is just now being shown for the first time in Germany. Hopper's hair is very short, really shaven. It's his look for the Kevin Costner film Waterworld. We talk about artists friends in common. He especially loves my swan piece by the Starn Brothers and says how much he admires their work. In the living room he identifies the obscure 1965 Rosenquist print and says that he remembers Jim first showed it at Leo's. I express amazement and he tells me that the only memory he has left is for art. But, I doubt that.
